Meetings:
Meetings are generally held the first Thursday of each month at 6:30
p.m. in the Local History Room of the Charlton Public Library. Dates and
times are posted on the cable television community bulletin board
and at the Municipal Offices. Meetings are open to the public. |

Areas of Responsibility:
The Ad Hoc Wildlife Committee reports to the Board of Selectmen.
Responsibilities include:
- GATHERING INFORMATION through the conduct of hearings, site
visits, exchange of information with other communities and organizations
with interest in wildlife populations, habitats, and human-wildlife
coexistence, etc.

DISSEMINATING INFORMATION to the townspeople through education on
applicable laws, alternatives for resolution of problems, sources of
financial assistance, etc.;
- ADVISING AND ASSISTING other town committees, commissions,
and boards that are dealing or may deal with issues that involve
wildlife or wildlife habitats, or whose actions may affect wildlife
or wildlife habitats, etc.; and

REPORTING to the Board of Selectmen.

Interpretive and Educational Programs:
Charlton Wildlife Essay Contest: “What’s Your Favorite Local Wild Animal?”
The Charlton Ad-Hoc Wildlife Committee is pleased to announce the winners of the “What’s Your Favorite Charlton Wildlife” essay contest. The winners are: Shannon Costa, grade 4, who wrote about the Eastern Screech Owl; Rebecca Davison, grade 4, whose favorite animal is the beaver; and Julia Westwell grade 6 who wrote about deer. Winners were awarded prizes at the Charlton Library.
The mission of the Wildlife Committee is to educate and inform Charlton residents about local wildlife, options regarding conflicts with humans and wildlife and applicable laws. The Committee holds Family Wildlife Nights and sponsors annual art and writing contests and other educational events. For more information contact Karen Ogden at kao@charter.net or (508) 248-9942.

Composition of the Committee:
The Committee consists of seven representative members involved with
the community. A Board of Selectmen (BoS) member may act as liaison.
