Information for taxpayers and ratepayers
of the Town of Charlton:
JUST A REMINDER TO SENIORS: Senior homeowners 65 years of age or older are eligible for a 15% discount off their sewer user bills. You must own and occupy the property as your domicile as of July 1. You must re-apply each year in order to continue to receive your discount. The Water and Sewer Commission will need your forms completed and returned to their office by June 30th. The form is available for download on this website, at the Senior Center in the Town Hall, or you may come to our office at 8A Worcester Road (the sewer treatment plant) and complete the form there. If you have received the discount in the past and provided us with appropriate paperwork, all we need is a completed application. If you are applying for the first time, we will need copies of your deed and driver’s license or other proof of age.
In an effort to provide information to the taxpayers and ratepayers
of the Town of Charlton, the Water and Sewer Commission submits the

LEGAL NOTICE
Moratorium Motion made August 16, 2010
Motion to be effective immediately: The Commission hereby suspends the current Moratorium for a period of two (2) years until August 16, 2012, subject to the fact that it can be modified by the Commission within those two (2) years. The purpose of this Motion is to orderly and fairly allocate the prescribed capacity in the following manner and amounts: The amount of capacity is 100,000 gallons of residential like sewerage, 50,000 gallons to be reserved for residential use – those residents within the current sewer area; and 50,000 gallons to be reserved for commercial and industrial growth.
To qualify the commercial industrial availability of 50,000 gallons, no one applicant will be allowed to request more than 10,000 gallons of capacity upon approval by the Commission. Residential, commercial, and industrial applicants not within the service area can be reviewed by the Commission.
The Commission has the right to review and modify this Moratorium Motion at anytime. This Motion shall remain in effect until August 16, 2012, or when capacity is reached, if sooner.
