| Information for taxpayers and ratepayers
of the Town of Charlton: JUST A REMINDER TO SENIORS: Senior homeowners 65 years of age or older are eligible for a 15% discount off their sewer user bills. You must own and occupy the property as your domicile as of July 1. You must re-apply each year in order to continue to receive your discount. The Water and Sewer Commission will need your forms completed and returned to their office by June 15th. The form is available for download on this website, or you may come to the Commission’s office at 8A Worcester Road at the Sewer Treatment Plant and complete the form there. If you have received the discount in the past and provided us with appropriate paperwork, all we need is a completed application. If you are applying for the first time, we will need copies of your deed and driver’s license or other proof of age. In an effort to provide information to the taxpayers and ratepayers of the Town of Charlton, the Water and Sewer Commission submits the following articles to the Charlton Gazette that will also be published on this webpage. LEGAL NOTICE Moratorium Motion made April 27, 2009 Motion to be effective immediately, the suspension of the current moratorium for the next 12 months, subject to the fact that it can be modified by the Commission within those 12 months; and the purpose of this is to orderly and fairly allocate the prescribed capacity in the following manner and amounts: The amount of capacity is 100,000 gallons of residential like sewerage; that 50,000 gallons will be reserved for residential use – those residents within the current sewer area; and 50,000 gallons for commercial and industrial growth. This notice is to be sent in writing to all holders of betterments or all properties that have been issued betterments but have not been connected to the sewer; and that we duplicate notification through a newspaper advertisement. To qualify the commercial industrial availability of 50,000 gallons is that no one applicant will be allowed to request more than 10,000 gallons of capacity unless approved by the Commission.
