Areas of Responsibility:

The following directions were set by the Board of Selectmen. Streetlights are intended as a matter of public safety, and are not to be used for public convenience, yard lighting or work area lighting. Area lighting for public convenience or private security can be obtained by the installation of area lighting at the property owner's expense.

In general, streetlights will be provided at:

1. Traffic intersections.
2. Roadway areas of limited sight distance (sharp curves or major changes in grade).
3. The terminal end of a dead end street or cul-de-sacs.
4. Walkways (whether sidewalks are available or not) commonly used as pedestrian thoroughfares to destinations such as schools, retail stores, employment, etc., but not including leisure walking or jogging areas.
