The Earth Day Committee is responsible for planning Charlton's Earth Day each spring. An informal group called the Earth Day Festival Planning Group plans and assists with the Earth Day Festival. Meetings are open to anyone interested in volunteering or sharing ideas for Earth Day.

Charlton Earth Day 2012
Saturday April 28th from 8 AM - 12 PM
Charlton’s annual clean-up will be held on Saturday April 28th, 2012 from 8 am to 12 noon. Our goal again this year is to clean the whole town! We’d like as many people as possible to give an hour or two and pick up trash. People may register for a road or section of a road they want to clean. Registration will be ongoing in the Senior Center beginning April 2nd or sign-up online here:

The yellow trash bags for clean-up will be available at the senior center beginning April 9th for those who want to pick up trash at their own convenience. A roll-off dumpster will be behind Town Hall on Saturday April 28th, courtesy of Casella Waste Systems. The first 100 volunteers to show up Saturday the 28th will receive a free Earth Day T-shirt courtesy of Millennium Power. All volunteers are welcome to come back to the senior center for a light lunch from 11 to noon.
Charlton Earth Fest and Pet Show - Deadline to enter extended to Fri., April 27th!
After the clean-up, come to the Town Common! An Earth Fest event will be held on the common from 11 am – 2 pm. Activities will include informational vendors providing environmentally sound advice, live music, and a pet show. To participate in the pet show, register on-line on the Earth Day webpage or pick up a registration form at Town Hall or the library. All registrations must be turned in by Monday April 23rd – no fee to enter. Open to the children of Charlton. Pets must be restrained and must check in at the Common by noon. Judging will commence promptly at 12:30 pm.
Rules for Pet Show
1. Participants must register at the common beginning at noon. Judging will begin at 12:30.
2. Participants should arrive by noon and check in at the registration booth where they will receive a registration number.
3. All pets must be restrained either by cages or leash.
4. Winners will be judged by an official judging team and all results are final.
5. Prizes will be awarded to the categories listed below.
6. Any other rule the judges deem necessary to eliminate confusion and discrepancies.
