Areas of Responsibility:
The Board of Health is responsible for addressing and maintaining all health related environmental issues in the Town of Charlton, Massachusetts. The Board of Health issues permits/licenses related to Food Establishments, Temporary Food Service, Food Manufacturing, Motels and Mobile Home Parks, Swimming Pool Operations, Semi Public Bathing Beaches, Portable Toilets, Housing Inspections, Section 8, Occupancy Permits, Massage Therapists and Massage Establishments, Well Permits, Septic Design Systems, Installation and Inspection. Septic System Installers License, Septic Pumping and Hauling. Trash Haulers Licenses.

The Board of Health also nominates the Animal Inspector each year under M.G.L. 129 § 15 and submits the name to the Bureau of Animal Health. The Animal Inspector conducts barn inspections each year - click here for information.

The Board of Health has approved a new registration form for residents that house farm animals which is free of charge. This registration is to assist the Animal Inspector with keeping records of all farm animals in town. It will also enable the animal inspector to contact the owner in the event of an emergency. It is a one page form that asks for little but very helpful information. There is no fee for this registration.

Charlton Rabies Clinic: The Board of Health and Animal Inspector host a rabies clinic each year in the spring. 2011 clinic TBA.
